Obituary for Mylan Laverne Thomas

Mylan Laverne Thomas
Mylan Thomas (Laverne) was born on January 24, 2034 in Warfield, Virginia, She was raised by her loving grandparents Eddie and Nannie Feggans. After marrying William Thomas and having three beautiful children, Herbert(Lorenzo) Thomas, Sharon (sister) Thomas, and Anthony (Butch) Thomas she moved to Brooklyn, New York.
While living in Brooklyn her children attended P.S. 191 Paul Roberson Elementary School. While there, her oldest son Lorenzo informed her that there was a job available as a para-professional. The position included substitute teaching, attending the cafeteria, as well as overseeing the supply closet. Mylan applied for the position and to her surprise she got the job.
While at P.S. 191 Mylan was well known and loved by both the staff and students for her love and kindness towards them. Mylan had a heart for children. She went out of her way to ensure that all the kids had enough supplies and food. She frequently gave out extras. Her fellow staff members loved her for her country accent, witty remarks and the fact they could always depend on her. They also loved her amazing coconut and chocolate cake. After 35 years of dedicated service she retired from the New York City Board of Education.
Mylan Thomas was an avid baseball fan, Her favorite team was the Mets. She also had a love for Steve Harvey, she enjoyed kicking back to a good T.D. Jakes sermon. While at home, Mylan recently expressed to her granddaughter that she "needed to make peace with God". That day Mylan rededicated her life to Christ.
Mylan is preceded in death by her grandparents Eddie and Nannie Feggans, husband William Thomas, eldest son Herbert Thomas, grandson Lorenzo Thomas Jr., uncle and aunt Charlie and Irma Feggans, and aunt Miram.
She is survived by her loving children: Sharon Thomas (Fred German) and Anthony Thomas (Cynthia Tomas); daughter-in-law Gloreen Thomas, her grandchildren : Tanyshia (Desi) Thomas-Rivers (Jamal Rivers), Monique Thomas-Myler (Raymond Myler III). Chasity Slade, Lashawn Ladson, Tara James, Grace Spears; her great-grandchildren: Britany Williams (Kevin Williams), Shakalah Myler, Armani Myler, Bianca Ladson, Zachary Gibbs, Zayden Gibbs; great-great granddaughter Talyn Williams and a host of family and friends.
