Obituary for Aminta G Allen

Aminta G Allen
On March 18th 1941, James Nathaniel Howell and Iris Kerr were blessed with the birth of their child Aminta Howell, in La Boca, Canal Zone, Panama. She grew up in Paraiso, Canal Zone with her 2 brothers. As a young girl, Aminta enjoyed sports, cookingand was admired by many. She was a "social butterfly". Growing up,she was a vibrant, outgoing person who was full of charisma. She attended Paraiso High School and was considered a highly motivated and intelligent student. She was a member of the softball and basketball teams. In 1959, Aminta graduated with top honors.
In 1964, as an adult she migrated to the United States in pursuit pf a better life. One year later, she married Theodore Allen and together they produced 3 wonderful daughters Marcela Mondesir, Almira Lewis, and Tatia Aleen. Aminta was committed to her family's well-being. Once Aminta was settled in New York, shortly after began working for Chase Manhattan Bank as a Manager of Proof and control. She also attended American Institute of Banking. She has an impeccable work ethic and retired after 30 years of service. Aminta role and responsibilities as a manager, prepared her for her next big step. In addition, to her managerial role, she also pursued and earned her Income Tax Certification. Aminta was now preparing taxes at H&R Block Tax Services where she made sure everyone of her clients got that BIG check they wanted! This gave her so much joy. Due to her endearing nature, those clients soon became family.
Aminta loved life and pursued it with vigor. She often loved to entertain, cook and travel. She was generous, witty, dedicated and had an infectious smile. She welcomed everyone into her home and was affectionately known as "Mamie" because of her nurturing nature. Aminta was a woman of God who loved to attend church services and retreats to pray with friends. She was also an active member of St. Catherine Genoa Church. Aminta's memory will live on as a woman of high moral standards who gave her life to God. She was a courageous, respectful, and caring person who loved her family. Aminta taught us love, how to fight and gave us strength to live. Aminta gave her best, but now the time has come for her to rest. Aminta has earned her sleep.
On Friday , July 6, 2018, at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New Yor; God called Aminta home to share her talents on high. Aminta showed strength and love right up until her last days with us. Aminta would not want us to mourn her death but to celebrate her life. Think good thoughts when you think of Aminta and smile.
Aminta is survived by her daughters: Marcela Mondesir, Almira Lewis, and Tatia Allen; Her step-sons: Armando Allen, Theodore Allen Jr., and Todd Allen; Her grandchildren :Anthony Mondesir, Terrance Mondesie, Sean Lewis, Monica Lewis, Kaylah Jinwright; Her godson: Andre Jean-Louis & goddaughter Silviaa Cristina Chifundo; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins, She is preceded in death by her brothers Antonio Howell, Ricardo Howell and grandson Alfredo Mondesir.
