Elizabeth Jackson (affectionally known as grandma) was born January 25, 1918 in Suffolk, Virginia to the late Rochell and Mary Rebecca Bryant. She departed this life on December 28, 2018 at the Phoenix Rehabilitation Center.Elizabeth was proceeded in death by her younger sister Evelyn in October of 2006.
Elizabeth moved to New York at the age of 15; she was educated in Newport News, V.A. and the New York City public school systems. Over the years, she worked as a factory worker; where she became a union shop steward. During the war, she worked as a poll worker for the Democratic party. After she retired, she became a babysister for many of the parents in her development.
Elizabeth received the landmark celebration of 100 years of age on January 25, 2018. She has led a long, rich and a life of service for her community and have received many blessings in the interim. She was acknowledged by political officials and received a Proclamation and Citations for her dedication to the community.
She leaves to cherish her memories:Special cousins, Clemetine, Helen, Sondra, all from Waldorf ,Maryland . Many other relatives and friends from the New York area.
