SHIRLEY MCLAURIN was born October 22, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York to her parents, the late Helen and Warren Hamilton. She was the 2nd eldest of seven children. At the young age of 13 Shirley received her calling and left school to care for her parents and siblings.
At the age of 18 Shirley married her first love Robert Johnson Sr. in which they shared seven children, Robert Jr, Paula, Dwayne, Darlene, Dyla, Charles and Troy. After Robert Sr’s passing, Shirley married her lifelong companion and soul mate Willie McLaurin in 1985.
Shirley was a small woman but was tough. She was strong, out spoken and never held back her vulgarity. Shirley filled any room she entered with humor and laughter. She was known for her legendary family gatherings in which she displayed her amazing culinary skills; both in the kitchen and on the grill. She was also keen on having a loving home with impeccable design aesthetics.
Shirley valued her family in played a major role in raising several of her grandchildren in which she was themed the nickname “Gramps”. She was also a key attribute to her community whereas she would offer her home, a hot meal and words of encouragement to anyone in need.
Shirley leaves to cherish and continue her legacy: Husband and greatest love, Willie; Children: Darlene, Charles, Troy and Lamont; Sisters: Joan, Simone and Marion; In Laws: David, Shirley and Reginald; 26 Grandchildren, 31 Great-Grandchildren, 8 Great-Great Grandchildren in addition to her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was proceeded in eternal life by Children: Robert (Bobby), Paula, Dwayne, Dyla and Darwin; Sister: Loraine; Brothers: Warren and Tyrone; In Laws: Patricia, William, Jimmy, Clarence, Debbie and Bernice.
