Obituary for Dewayne Wheeless

As God looked around his garden and found an empty place, He then looked down upon the earth and saw his tired face. So He put his arms around him and lifted him to rest. Now Gods garden must be beautiful, for he always takes the best....
Dewayne Wheeless, born September 9th 1956, was called home on May 26th 2019 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the son of Archie J. Wheeless and Annie Lafolia Clemons-Wheelees, who both preceded him in death. He was the second oldest of three siblings and was preceded in death by his older sister, Audrey Wheeless - Graham.
He received his education in the public school system in Brooklyn, New York. At an early age, "Wayne" as lovingly known by his family, showed a very high aptitude for learning. Especially when it came to anything that had to do with math and art.
In the early stage of his career life, he worked for the New York Stock Exchange as a junior trader on the main floor. Wayne's mind was too creative to be limited to one occupation. He explored many opportunities. Wayne, also known as Jazz, richly enjoyed entertaining people with his passion for drawing and sharing his analytical and spiritual views. Sometimes his views were radical, however he always left you with a jewel.
The only thing greater than Wayne’s (Jazz) artistic, academic, and spiritual passions were the passion he held for people. To pour the wisdom from lessons learned from his own life's journey into someone else was to him a great privilege. He loved being and knowing that he was a source of encouragement for many people, young and old.
You could always be certain that Jazz, always had a joke or a funny story he wanted to share, and a sixth sense to know if something was right or wrong. Not only with himself, but with any and everybody that crossed his path; both coming or going, he'd have a coufie on his head and his trusted backpack on his back with a great big smile on his face. Not a man on a mission, a man with a ministry.
A man who will be loved and missed by so many…
Of the countless many left to cherish his memories: the wife of his life, Cynthia Erskine of Poughkeepsie, NY, three sons, Rasheed, Bayshon, Jamiel all of Brooklyn, NY. Three daughters: Halima of Poughkeepsie, NY, Selina "Tweety" of Queens, NY, and Azure-Bleu of New Windsor, NY. One sister, Ramona Wheeless of Baltimore, MD. Three grandchildren: Jada Erskine, Braylynn Erskine and Asad Halim Erskine. Seven nephews, four nieces and a host of cousins, family and friends.
