Obituary for Shawn Louis

SHAWN ALWIN LOUIS, the third child of Barthelmy Louis and Leonie Baptiste was born on February 28, 1978, in Castries, St Lucia, West Indies.
As a young Boy, Shawn attended the Vide Boutielle Primary School and spent his most of his time on the football field in Mindoo Phillip Park playing football with peers alike. He later Moved to New York city in 1995 to pursue education. Whilst in the United States Shawn worked several job sites in Construction and freelanced his time as an entrepreneur in sales where he was a member of the Kings County Association. Shawn continued to play soccer for the St Lucia Association for Foot Ball, won several awards in Brooklyn where he lived primarily, as a well-known member of the West Indian population in Brooklyn.
As the fight for rare cancer Amyloidosis consumed his organs in 2017 Shawn closed his eyes from this earth on May 29th 2019 at the Kings County Hospital Center, where he received his chemotherapy treatment and dialysis treatment. His fight ended due to organ failure and cardiac arrest. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Martha Joseph, maternal grandfather Joseph L Joseph, his maternal great aunt Octancia Estephanie Joseph, maternal great uncle Michael Joseph, his paternal grandmother Philomen Louis, his paternal grandfather Joseph Louis and recently his father Barthelmy Louis.
He leaves behind his mother Leonie Baptiste, His God Father Leonard Moise, his Brothers Andy Gaspard Cazaubon, Kiron Louis and Dillan Louis. His Sisters Sansha Louis Georges, Miriam Placide, Louise Louis, Luann Louis, Kadisha Louis, and Christine Louis. His uncles Antoine Louis, Kenton Louis, Franklin Louis, Bernard Louis, Henry Joseph, Martin Joseph; and maternal great uncle Anderson Joseph. Aunties Patricia Louis, Jacintha Florent, Norma Louis, Marlene Joseph, Audrey Louis, Theresa Joseph and Catherine Joseph. His nephews Osaseh Louis, Yohance’ Louis, Sherwin Gaspard, Nathan Louis and Rojon Popo. His nieces Naomi Gaspard, Luckisha Gaspard, Navy Ann Gaspard and Durvelle Maynard. Brother in law Wistan Georges, numerous cousins, friends and neighbors too enormous to mention.
Shawn Louis, better known as Black Berry and Shawn Dedan is a rare gem that will never be replaced or forgotten. He lived his life like a candle in the wind and his legs moved as a motor, fueled with energy and charged by the universe. He will be greatly missed for is tenacious behavior, his constant laughter and his zest for living life. Shawn has ascended and is seated with God as he gave his life to the master and became a regular attendee of the Holy Cross Catholic Church. We all are missing him more every passing day.
