Obituary for Jacqueline Douglas

Our beautiful, strong, and gracious Jacqueline Angela Douglas, age 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2020, at Harlem Hospital, New York. Jackie, as she was known by most, was born on November 19, 1939, in Barataria, Trinidad to Iona Babb and Roderick Brown. She was an entrepreneur at heart who wore many hats and who spent most of her life serving and caring for others. Jackie lived life to the fullest, loved to laugh, and was never afraid to try new and adventurous things. She enjoyed traveling and often told her grandchildren, and anyone who would listen, amazing, and entertaining stories about the things she did, the people she met, and, most of all, about the food she ate! Jackie’s storytelling always had rich meaning and was filled with life-lessons that will never be forgotten. Jackie gave us all the richest of legacies in how to live life and honor others.
Jacqueline Douglas is survived by her sister, Yolande, and brother, Owen. Her children Curtis, Kathleen, Anthony, Esmond, George, and Patricia. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Gerard, Nicole, Nikeisha, Stacy, Kwame, Shari, Solano, Shirelle, Dario, Tennille, Damien, Glenda, Camille, and Lebron. She had the honor of meeting and taking care of her 15 great-grandchildren. Jackie also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved her dearly.
Jackie is predeceased by her parents, Iona and Roderick, her brothers, Preston “Chubby” and Andy, and her sons, Steve and Oswald. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
