Garrison
Warren Paul Garrison was born on February 10, 1945 to Elizabeth Garrison and Warren Garrison of Brooklyn, New York in St. Mary’s Hospital. Raised in his beloved Bedford-Stuyvesant, Warren graduated from Bishop Loughlin High School in 1963. Following his graduation, Warren briefly served in the US Navy.
Upon his discharge, Warren returned to Brooklyn, working for the New York Police Department as a Police Service Aide for over 35 years. Throughout his life, Warren remained committed to his family, supporting his father until his passing in 1977 and caring for his mother who passed in 2009.
Warren loved consuming culture in all of its forms. An avid cinephile, he could regularly be found heading to the theater to catch the latest blockbuster film. Warren was an actor in various plays in New York City. He also often enjoyed listening to jazz music, and heading to the Upper West Side in Manhattan for a meal at Ashford & Simpson's Sugar Bar.
Warren peacefully departed this life on January 6, 2023 in his cherished home in Brooklyn, NY. He is predeceased by his mother, father and brother, Jeffery Garrison.
Warren is survived by his nieces; Samira Cooper (Michael), Anana Phifer-Derilhomme (Musset), Jamala Phifer and Mary Garrison, 3 great nephews, 3 great nieces, along with numerous friends, former colleagues, and associates. He is best remembered by his smile, sense of humor, and genuine care for those around him. He will truly be missed, and his memory will forever live in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
