Obituary for Fenley Montas

Print
Fenley Montas was born on the 8th of October , 1975 in Port-Au-Prince , Haiti. He was the youngest of six children to Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel and Rose-Andree Montas. Fenley was affectionately known as "Touffen" or Leyley by his family and friends.
Fenley migrated to New York at the age of six years old in 1982. He attended PS 34 in Queens Village, then he went to MS143 in Bayside, Queens. Fenley later graduated from Elmont Memorial High School in 195 and attended Morgan State University. His profession was Graphic Arts and printing, which he was very passionate about. He worked for several different graphic design companies.
Fenley was an outgoing person. He spent a lot of his time playing handball, basketball, chess, riding his bike and walking through Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. Fenley also enjoyed watching great movies. He liked most of the, "Bruce Lee" series and would be caught watching them late at night when everyone else is fast asleep. In addition to sports and movies, Fenley would also listened to many artists. One of his favorite was Nas.
Fenley will be remembered by his generosity and friendly attitude to all he came in contact with. Fenley also enjoyed being a good cook. He also liked to travel.
He visited his homeland, Haiti several times. He still has many members of his family there. He was very mesmerized and enchanted about the country where he was born and to know the land where both his father and mother were from. Fenley's father always instilled in him the rich history of his country, which led him to demonstrate a strong interest to know about his birthright and language heritage, creole. It was important to him to always speak creole fluently.
Fenley is survived by both of his parents, Emmanuel and Rise-Andree Montas, sisters: Elmire Pierre-Louis, Linda Montas, Nathalie Montas-Pitss, Myriam Emmanuel, Mickerline Bernard, brothers:Robbins Montas, Patrick Demosthenes, Hughes Emmanuel, and Rodney, brother-in-law: Herriot Pierre-Louis and Wesley Pitts, sister-in-law : Magalie Demosthenes, six nieces, one nephew, five aunts, two uncles and many cousins, his God-mother, Roberte Monplaisir and a host of friends. Fenley is not dead but have passed on.
May his soul rest in peace and rise in glory.
We want to always remember Fenley by the many wonderful memories he left with us and the famous quote he would use when we seem to be in doubt.
